Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our top priority

Last updated: April 11, 2025

🔒 The short version: Your files are processed entirely in your browser and are never uploaded to our servers. We cannot see, access, or store your documents.

1. Introduction

OptiPDF ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using OptiPDF, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Because all PDF processing happens exclusively in your browser:

  • We never receive, store, or process any files you work with on OptiPDF
  • Your documents are never transmitted to our servers
  • We cannot and do not read the content of your PDF files
  • We do not require registration or an email address to use our tools

3. Information We May Collect

3.1 Usage Analytics

We may collect anonymized, non-personally-identifiable usage data to help us improve the service. This may include:

  • Which tools are used (without any document content)
  • Browser type and version
  • General geographic region (country-level only)
  • Pages visited and time spent on site

This data is collected using tools such as Google Analytics and is aggregated — it cannot be used to identify you personally.

3.2 Contact Form

If you contact us through our Contact page, we will receive your name and email address solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not share this information with third parties.

4. Cookies

OptiPDF uses minimal cookies for:

  • Analytics: Anonymous usage tracking (can be blocked with ad-blockers)
  • Preferences: Storing UI preferences locally in your browser

We do not use tracking cookies for advertising or profiling purposes.

5. Third-Party Libraries

Our tools rely on open-source JavaScript libraries (pdf-lib, PDF.js, mammoth.js, etc.) loaded from public CDNs. These CDNs (jsDelivr, Cloudflare) may log standard server access logs including your IP address. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for details.

6. Data Security

Since your files never leave your browser, the fundamental security model is that the data never touches our infrastructure. All file operations are isolated to your local browser session and are discarded when you close the tab.

7. Children's Privacy

OptiPDF is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a prominent notice on this page. Continued use of OptiPDF after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us or email us at privacy@optipdf.com.
